CLIPPERS STILL IN THE HUNT
The Los Angeles Clippers picked up their franchise-record 57th win and stayed in the hunt for the second seed in the NBA’s Western conference by defeating the Denver Nuggets 117-105. Blake Griffin scored a team-high 24 points, and Chris Paul added 21 and 10 assists while shooting 8-for-10 from the field. The Clippers will take the No. 2 seed if the win at Portland on Wednesday while Oklahoma City loses to Detroit.

KNICKS TOP NETS
Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 16 points and the New York Knicks prevented Brooklyn from clinching the fifth seed in the NBA’s Eastern Conference by downing the Nets 109-98. Amare Stoudemire and J.R. Smith each added 14 points for the Knicks, who are playing their last two games without Carmelo Anthony. New York’s injured scoring leader had an MRI Tuesday that revealed a torn labrum in his right shoulder.

BREWERS HIT 2-GAME SKID
The Milwaukee Brewers are on a two-game skid since reeling off nine straight wins. Shelby Miller struck out seven and allowed three hits over six innings of the Cardinals’ 6-1 win over the Brewers in Milwaukee. MEAL MONEY
The NCAA’s Legislative Council has approved a proposal to expand the meal allowance for all athletes. The proposal would allow Division I schools to provide unlimited meals and snacks to all athletes, including walk-ons. The measure still must be approved by the board of directors, which meets April 24.

NBA DRAFT GROWS
Syracuse sophomore forward Jerami Grant is entering the NBA draft after averaging 12.1 points and a team-leading 6.8 rebounds last season. Michigan sophomores Nik Stauskas and Glen Robinson III also have decided to leave school early for the draft, but Michigan State forward Brenden Dawson says he’ll be back for his senior season.

CAL HIRES A COACH
California has hired Tennessee’s Cuonzo Martin as its men’s basketball coach. He replaces Mike Montgomery, who retired last month after six seasons in Berkeley.
